Art Linkletter had it right. Kids really do say the darndest things. They also do the darndest things. In concurrence with these children are parents to observe these precious moments, and even execute some doozies of their own. Since my son, Mason, came to this world, I have not been able to help but see everything fatherhood has to offer…good, bad, and hilarious. To put it quite simply, I decided to write down these self-made observations and spew some details and opinions about it. You are reading the result. Mason’s first year of life…the first year of parenthood for me and my wife, Holly…is teaching me so much about my skills as a father, and surely helps me appreciate the insane amount of stress and hilarity that I put my own father through. It is all of this that I share with all of you.
This was never intended to be a work of fine literature. This is fatherhood from the eyes of an ordinary guy. If fatherhood was as refined as Shakespeare, we’d all be very messed up in the head, and boring!
So that’s it. Hopefully I’ve encouraged you to read on. It’s time for an in-depth look at my take on the hardest, and absolute best job there can be.
